Humniska, Poland

For a more sobering time to our trip, we went to visit Humniska, a place with great atrocities and great heroism. Rita's mother and grand parents were hidden by a neighboring family while the rest of the village killed.

Polish country side

A memorial marker to the villagers

The 2nd and 3rd generation, rescuers and rescued.

The medal honoring Kendra "the righteous among the nations"

The home cookin' was quite tasty

The house

The attic

The daughter-in-law and grand daughter and group

They were amazingly warm and full of love, and she made really good mushroom soup (supposed to be good for the heart). It would have been great to spend more time with them. Maybe some day...He knows.

The house where Rita's parents met and her mother lived before the war. They had a general store out of the front of it.
